"Ireland of the one hundred thousand welcomes revisited"
Jonathan; December 10, 2014
Due to the delayed arrival of my flight into Cork I was obliged to change my original travel plans. Instead of travelling directly to Castletown Berehaven I decided to make a stopover on route. Booking.com came to the rescue. As it turned out deciding on Bluebell Cottage was an inspired choice. It was an effortless 50 minute drive from the airport. Signposted Waterfall House, it is located off the Cork to Dunmanway road. It was well marked off the R587/R585/N22 road making it easy to find, even on a dark, cold, wet winters evening. Arriving in the heart of the countryside and encountering very little traffic was just what the doctor ordered following a few long stressful days. Arriving to the warmth and the wonderful homely smell of a wood stove, my very spacious self contained unit was sheer bliss. My hostess, Abina was most welcoming ensuring that I had everything I needed and that my electric blanket was switched on, which resulted in the most welcome peaceful night's rest. A welcome pack was provided which included fruit, biscuits and a few other bits and pieces that I fail to recall. Bottled water was provided for beside my bed - even though Abina assured me that the tap water was perfectly safe to drink. There was also coffee and tea provided including a carton of fresh milk in the fridge should I require it. Having to catch up on a few emails before I retired I was delighted to find that the WiFi coverage was excellent much to my surprise. I wish to highly recommend this accommodation to holidaymakers who like peace and quite and to all frazzled weary travellers. Tim told me that the family have being receiving guest since the early seventies and it certainly shows. It is thank to this level of such genuine unassuming service that earned Ireland the title of 'a hundred thousand welcomes'. For me it proved to be a real find, extraordinarily good value and I will certainly return.

"Perfect." Richard; December 8, 2014 We were made feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The cottage was lovely and the stove was already lighting when we arrived making it nice and warm. The kitchen area was perfect and the bed was very comfortable. We both had a great stay and would hope to return some day. |

"A hidden gem!" Michael; October 13, 2014 Lovely self-contained cottage in a beautiful location. Charming hosts. Complete silence (hard to get these days) yet only 5 minutes from a main road and a town. With a clear sky at night - stargazing! Best nights sleep in 20 years! |
